Alright, so as much as I love being up here, I’ve come to that point in my vacation where I’m rested up in more ways than one, and I’m actually ready to go back to work – something quite absurd really, but it just goes to show how much this was really my first vacation. Even though the training was rather boring really, I’ve enjoyed everything, from hanging out with my awesome brother Tomas to spending time with my sister up here, it’s been a blast! See you guys back in Hawai’i!

Cheee-hooo! Hawai’i just won the WAC Championship dethroning Boise State in the most anticipated matchup of the season for both teams. Hawai’i is still undefeated at 11-0 and we’re on a roll! I am so proud of the guys and all the accomplishments. Those who know me from home know that I am a huge Hawai’i fan from when I went to UH Lab for High School, so I’m am soooo stoked to have these guys take this one!

I watched the game from my sister’s house in Rhode Island, but I was still able to feel the warmth and aloha that protrudes from the people of Hawai’i. Unlike most teams, this football team is all we have as a state to claim as our own, and we have stuck behind this team through thick and thin. Even when Hawai’i football wasn’t hot at all, we were there in the stands, cheering them on.

In Hawai’i everyone is considered ohana, so the 50,000 faithful in the stands were considered brothers and sisters rather than fans. It was so awesome to feel this sense of aloha from across the screen. To see this win happen hits home for everyone, because we take so much pride on our own. Though the team may be from different parts of the country, everyone has unofficially adopted them as their sons. We may not get much respect from the BCS as far as football, but this little engine that could never gave up. I’ve never been so proud to call myself a local and ohana, not because they won, but because our family all won. Give it up for our guys for bringing home the WAC Championship – Hawai’i No Ka Oi!!

Okay so yeah its been awhile since I’ve posted, and even moreso, the last post was from my elusive brother in Florida who hacked into my account! It’s okay, precious, Jesus still loves you. I hate your guts, but Jesus loves you. hahaha, just kidding! Okay now its sounding more like a MySpace comment than a blog. And……stop.

Anywho, it has been some time since I’ve been on here, and deliberately so. I’ve been on vacation for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve wanted to abstain from it to just clear my mind, and I’ve done just that – and you know what – it feels great! I havent had some good time off for myself i quite some time, and this time I ventured to the East Coast to REALLY get away from it all. I visited my brotha form anotha motha, Tomas, who I’ve written about before. We hadn’t known much about eachother, but I got a chance to get to know him and realized how odd it is that we are almost alike – except for the peacock thing where I’ll let him indulge in. : P But he truly is  great friend and servant of God, and it was just great to hang out with someone that is just as quirky and nutty as me – though not as cool. That is so funny. No seriously. That is so funny. But yes, it was great to visit his church, Calvary Christian Center, and his friends are awesome. He is truly Florida’s cool factor – undisputedly so.

I’m now here in Rhode Island spending Thanksgiving an my birthday with my older sister Tia and her fiancee Jaime, both of which are stationed up here in the northeast in the Coast Guard. It’s definitely a different atmosphere, as I’ve never really had a winter, really. As many times as I’ve gone up to Alaska on the ship, I’ve only gone during the summers, when it was nice and green. I’ve frankly been freezing my bum up here, and the first few days found me shopping for winter clothing – something I’ve never done before.  But I’m having fun just being with family again and checking out the Northeast. I am actually ready to go back to work, pretty much because I feel I’m rejuvenating myself up here. I didn’t think I needed a vacation, but I was wrong.

Take a time out from life when you can. You don’t have to come clear across the country, but just take time for yourself. I promise you, it will be worth your while. Thank you, God, for this vacation. You knew I needed it, and I’m so glad you made it happen. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Just a little note to all you out there this is not Peni its Tomas writing from his computer in my condo in Daytona…Hong Kong.  Shhh don’t tell anyone.  He’s really hating me right now but that is ok.  So to all you in the big H I just wanted to give you a shout out.  Holler!! Well got to go the mans coming back and he is really not happy.  If you don’t hear from me soon its because peni ran me over with my car.  Peace out
